Christiano Fragoso has been a criminal defense attorney, with a focus on Economic Criminal Law, since 1998. He is the Head of the Criminal Law Department at UERJ (Rio de Janeiro State University), where he serves as an Associate Professor in the Law School’s undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs.
He holds a Doctorate in Criminal Law from UERJ (2011) and a Master’s degree in Criminal Sciences from Candido Mendes University (2007), in addition to postgraduate qualifications in Economic and European Criminal Law from the University of Coimbra/IBCCrim (2004) and in Criminal Defense Practice from Candido Mendes University (2000). He/She has completed a course in Economic Criminal Law at PUC/RJ. He served as a Councilor for the OAB/RJ during the 2013–2015 term and as Presiding Auditor of the Superior Court of Equestrian Justice between 2011 and 2013.
He is the author of four books, Authoritarianism and the Penal System, Criminal Repression of Strikes, The Crimes of Theft and Robbery, and Criminological and Dogmatic Reflections on the Crime of Disobedience, as well as numerous legal articles.
