EMERJ celebrated the 100th anniversary of the International Association of Penal Law (AIDP) and the 50th anniversary of its Brazilian section, founded by Heleno Cláudio Fragoso, the organization’s first president. The event, attended by his grandson Christiano Fragoso, honored the jurist’s legacy in the pursuit of a more ethical and humane justice system.
The ceremony also paid tribute to other distinguished jurists, such as Evandro Lins e Silva, René Ariel Dotti, and João Marcello de Araújo Júnior. It further brought together officials, academics, and students for a moment of reflection on the past and a renewed commitment to the future of criminal law in Brazil.
