Advocacia da liberdade

In this work, Heleno Fragoso recounts his arduous experiences as a defense lawyer for political prisoners during the “Years of Lead” of the post-1964 military dictatorship. Written in language accessible to the layperson, the book includes accounts of landmark criminal cases—such as those involving Ênio Silveira, Niomar Moniz Sodré Bitencourt, Caio Prado Junior, Father François Jentel, Stuart Angel Jones, Francisco Pinto, and Father Reginaldo Veloso. Also covered are the cases involving the MEP (Proletarian Emancipation Movement) and the São Paulo metalworkers—a group that included, among others, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
